Dear Friends,
As we step into the new year at Sathi Samuha, I am profoundly inspired by the resilience and determination that define our community-led organization. Despite facing unprecedented global challenges, our unwavering commitment to fostering a society free from stigma and discrimination, ensuring access to life-saving medicines & supplies for individuals living with HIV, Hepatitis, and those who use drugs, remains unshaken.
The past year illuminated the strength of our collective spirit. Confronting a global crisis marked by economic inflation, challenges posed by climate change, and wars & armed conflicts, alongside societal upheavals, our Sathi Samuha team demonstrated remarkable resilience, delivering essential services to our communities of People Who Use & or Inject Drugs (PWIDs) and People Living with HIV (PLHIV). Overcoming economic difficulties, navigating the impacts of climate change, and addressing armed conflicts resulting from natural and manmade disasters, our dedicated staff, with the support of community and local government, facilitated needle & syringe distribution, delivered HIV treatment, care & support services, facilitated the monthly Cash Transfer Program (CTP) for children affected by HIV/AIDS (CABA), home-delivery of antiretroviral medications, and critical treatments among many other services.
I take immense pride in our team's dedication during these challenging times. The aftermath of COVID-19 and the persistent armed conflicts, constituting an unprecedented crisis, has deeply affected millions of lives. Yet, our committed staff, often at personal risk, worked tirelessly to ensure our essential services reached those in need.
Looking ahead, with the looming specter of economic inflation and ongoing armed conflicts that have taken a toll globally, affecting every facet of life, we are prepared to face challenges head-on. Our commitment to community well-being remains steadfast, and we will continue project activities with renewed vigor.
With heartfelt condolences for every life lost to wars and climate disasters, my gratitude extends to the Global Fund team, SCI, allies, and, crucially, our invaluable beneficiaries—the PWID and PLHIV community. Your help and cooperation have been instrumental in our achievements. Through collective efforts and unwavering commitment to change, we believe we can overcome any obstacle, including global conflicts and an ever increasing financial inflation.
In adversity, I am confident that through collective efforts, we will not only navigate increasing economic inflation and global conflicts but also stride forward in overcoming the challenges posed by HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis and other health and social injustices. Together, we create an enabling environment where every community member can lead a free and dignified life.
Thank you for your continued support.
Earnest regards,
Binod PUN GURUNG
